Lectoring at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish

Answering the Call to Proclaim the Word of God
Lectoring is an essential ministry in the life of our parish. It is a powerful way for members of the parish to serve God by proclaiming His Word during Mass. Lectors have the privilege of bringing the scriptures to life, helping the congregation connect more deeply with the message of the Gospel.

Who Can Become a Lector?
We invite all parishioners who  have a love for the Word of God to consider becoming a lector. A good lector must be confident, articulate, and able to speak clearly and reverently. No prior experience is necessary; however, a willingness to prepare and practice is essential.

Responsibilities of a Lector
Lectors serve by reading the scriptures during Mass, which includes:

  • Proclaiming the First and Second Readings
  • Leading the Responsorial Psalm (when needed)
  • Reading the Prayers of the Faithful
  • Assisting with special liturgies such as Holy Week, Christmas, and Easter Masses

Why Become a Lector?
Becoming a lector is an opportunity to:

✅ Deepen your understanding of the Word of God by preparing and reflecting on the scriptures
✅ Grow in faith through service to the Church
✅ Develop public speaking and leadership skills
✅ Be an active participant in the Mass and contribute to the spiritual life of the parish
