Eucharistic Ministers at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish
Answering the Call to Serve in the Sacrament of the Eucharist
Serving as a Eucharistic Minister is a sacred privilege and a vital ministry within the parish. Eucharistic Ministers assist in distributing the Body and of Christ during Mass and to the homebound, offering the opportunity to bring Christ’s presence to those who cannot attend Mass in person.
Who Can Become a Eucharistic Minister?
We invite all parishioners who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and at least 18 years old who are in good standing with the Church to consider becoming a Eucharistic Minister. A deep reverence for the Eucharist, a spirit of humility, and a willingness to serve are key qualities for those who answer this call.
Responsibilities of a Eucharistic Minister
Eucharistic Ministers have the honor of distributing the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass and serving in various ways, including:
- Distributing the Eucharist at weekend and weekday Masses
- Taking the Eucharist to the homebound, hospitals, and care facilities
- Assisting with special liturgies such as Holy Week, Christmas, and Easter Masses
Why Become a Eucharistic Minister?
Serving as a Eucharistic Minister is a chance to:
✅ Deepen your devotion to the Eucharist by actively participating in its distribution
✅ Serve the Church and your community by bringing Christ to those in need
✅ Grow in spiritual life through this intimate and sacred ministry
✅ Develop a stronger connection with fellow parishioners in this shared service
Training and Commitment
New Eucharistic Ministers undergo training to ensure they are comfortable and knowledgeable in their role. This includes guidance on reverence, the proper handling of the Eucharist, and how to minister with love and care. Commitment to serving during Masses and assisting with homebound visits is important, and Eucharistic Ministers are scheduled to serve regularly.
