Rev. Fr. Matthew Cherian serves as Parochial Vicar of St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in East Haven, Connecticut. Working alongside the pastor, clergy, staff, and parishioners, Fr. Matthew assists in the spiritual and pastoral life of our parish and helps serve the needs of our parish family across our three churches.

Fr. Matthew is dedicated to helping parishioners encounter Christ through the celebration of the Holy Mass, the Sacraments, prayer, and participation in the life of the Church. Through his ministry, he accompanies parishioners in their faith and encourages them to grow closer to Jesus Christ in their daily lives.

As a member of the pastoral team at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish, Fr. Matthew participates in the celebration of Masses and other liturgical celebrations, pastoral ministry, and parish activities. He is committed to being present to the people of our parish and to helping foster a welcoming and active Catholic community.

Fr. Matthew shares in our parish devotion to St. Pio of Pietrelcina, whose life of prayer, humility, sacramental devotion, and service provides an example for all of us. Through his ministry, he encourages our parish family to remain rooted in faith and to seek Christ in prayer, the Sacraments, and service to others.

Together with Fr. Walsh, our deacons, staff, ministries, volunteers, and parishioners, Fr. Matthew helps St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish continue its mission as One Family in Christ.
